Motivation letter for scholarship application

I have written a motivation letter please correct it..It is very urgent please do it as early as possible.

First I would like to express my appreciation for this opportunity to apply for XXX. I am currently doing Mphil in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from XXX and proceeding “Genetic analysis of families with Anophthalmia” using a number of molecular biological techniques. Previously I have done a 4 years BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from XXX.

With the background knowledge I have in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, and Immunology I strongly feel that a PhD at XXXwill be very suitable for me to acheive my goal.

Research Interests

I am very much attracted to towards the cellular and molecular mechanisms of cancer metastasis. It is very interesting to understand the role of cancer stem cells in cancer metastasis beyond tumorigenesis as it could lead to novel therapeutic strategies against metastatic cancer.

Metastatic pancreatic cancer based on cancer stem cells is my desired goal to study in future because of its high lethality in cancer patients and poor prognosis due to early metastatic spread. As XXX is providing a plateform for a high level study of metastatic cancers, I would be grateful to be provided with a sponsorship to further my education in the field of my interest and build a career. I strongly believe in myself to be a deserving candidate for this programme.

Scientific Goals

To

· Understand the mechanism of signaling pathways important for cancer stem cells functions and the one which fascilitate the epithelial to mesenchymal transition in the early phase of cancer metastasis

· Understand the mechanisms underlying pre-metastasis niche formation and to target the seeding of CSCs into niche by blocking the regulatory factors for this process keeping in mind side effects of such blockage.

· Develop a novel therapy that targets the cancer stem cells in such a way that inhibits their signaling pathways regulating self renewal or the invasive ability of CSCs selectively by sparing the normal stem cells. A combination therapy approach might be used.

My research would add some knowledge to the future strong therapeutic strategy which could possibly target each of the cancer stem cells properties i.e. quiescence, self-renewal, asymmetric division, and multidrug resistance.

My combined love of research and demonstrating in dispensing classes compels me to consider a career in academia; therefore the PhD at CNIO is not only the unique opportunity to enter the world of research, but also a mandatory condition to secure an academic post.

In addition I will get a chance through this scholarship to interact with students from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds drawn from all over the world. The exposure is important for interaction and integration of diverse ideas and perspectives pertaining to various global issues.

Finally, I strongly wish to participate in this programme; and believe that the combination of my laboratory experience and training is well-suited to the PhD position you describe. I will optimize my stay at XXX to garner a wealth of ideas that will apply in the future. Once again I am grateful for considering my application and I look forward to a favorable reply.
