Dear Professor AAA,

I am writing to express my interest in doctoral program regarding classification using sparse representation, in BBB Laboratory, at Universite CCC.

I am currently enrolled in the Master’s program of Image Processing at CCC University, where I expect to graduate in September 2017.

Although I am currently a graduate student, I have spent time working in my professor’s lab of image processing for over one year, where I have studied and worked on many projects about image processing. Moreover, I had a three-month internship at the DDD electronic communication company, on applying image processing algorithms to hardware. Especially, my bachelor graduation thesis worked on using dictionary learning on sparse representation model for digital image denoising. At present, I am having a 6-month internship in BBB Lab, where I am studying on classification using sparse representation and deep learning. I think the experiences acquired in those projects allow me to have a good knowledge of image processing and to meet the requirements of your proposed PhD project.

My technical expertise also includes programming languages such as C, Java, Java Script, HTML and Python.

I am a conscientious person who works hard and pays attention to detail. I am also independent, flexible, and a great team player.

During my internship, I found that I got interested in machine learning, especially in sparse representation and deep learning, and I would like to specialize in this field. During the last months working in lab under your supervision, I felt motivated by the professional international research environment. I firmly believe that a PhD position in your laboratory is an excellent chance for myself because I am sure it would strongly enrich my future studies and help me in my prospective career.
