Motivation letter for NTNU

I have a unique opportunity to spend a semester in Norway and to get that scholarship I need to write a cover letter. As it is the first time I am writing something like this, I would like for you to write your opinion, whether it is good or not. Feel free to be cruel, because I want this to be as best as possesible.

Dear Sir or Madam,

With this
letter I would like to apply for the S - N Scholarship. I attended the presentation at the
University held by Ms. A M and
instantly became very interested. Norway
is a country with an exceptional education system and highly developed medicine
and it will be a great opportunity to improve myself by taking the
Autumn semester at NTNU and attending classes that will match the Winter
semester at my Home Institution. Therefore, to support my application, I will
provide my academic background as well as my personal strengths and interests.

I am a fourth year student
of Medicine, with an average grade 9.65 over 10, which puts me at the very top
of my class. All the values I own, were passed down to me by my
parents, who had strong
belief that the most important, for a good future, is education. That is why I always try my best to be a
good student. I was an excellent pupil during 12 years of schools and was
studying in a high school, in
which only students with highest grades can get in. Studying in that
environment, surrounded by peers that had same goal to be the best in
whatever profession they choose, proven to be ideal for my personal progress
and development. I became
interested in medicine on Biology classes, while studying the human body, were
I was amazed by the workings of life and how smart and logic all processes are.

That is why I am fascinated with
Physiology, where in addition to undergraduate studies I volunteer, as a student assistant. My duty
at Department of Physiology is to help second year students understand this
science and guide them through experiments. Being student assistant, has taught me to work successfully with a wide variety of students
and to use creativity to solve any problem posed by students.

Furthermore, my
ambition is to acquire new knowledge. That is why in collaboration with dr S R, a
professor at the Department of Pathophysiology, Head of Oncology Clinic, I
wrote a scientific paper "Pathogenesis of hypercalcemia in breast cancer".
As a result of a good scientific research this paper was published at 6th
International Scientific Conference in Moscow. Attending
International Conference and interacting with students from all over the world,
made me realize
that the best way to learn is in a multicultural
environment.

As a medical student, I realized I have
certain responsibility, because being a doctor means you have to be the best,
always to know the new methods and procedures, in order to prolong and improve
patients life. S is aiming to
create good conditions for
education of students, but it is still a country in transition, with a lack of
teachers and exercises attended by 20 students and although I wish to learn, I
do not have the conditions. That is why I want to spent a semester at NTNU, to
learn from experts in medicine in best working conditions.

Along with my academic
interests, I naturally have strong personal motivation. I always wanted to visit
Norway, to see the fjords and mountains, the northern light and to do winter
sports. The best way to learn about Norway is to immerse myself in a new
culture, learn Norwegian and improve English, first hand interacting with
people. I choose Norway, because it is a country rich in history and culture,
with institutions that offer high
quality education and the
opportunity of meeting and associating with people with
different perspectives. It is also an
opportunity to enrich myself, discover new strengths and abilities and conquer
new challenges.

From this exchange program I expect to gain high-quality practical
and theoretical knowledge and to develop myself both personally and professionally.
The opportunity to study at NTNU means a lot for my further education and it would
be a great honor to be associated with Your University.

Respectfully Yours,

A.P.
