Motivation letter for MSc Chinese Economy and Business
Hi, I just wanted to ask what do you think about this letter? Any major mistakes? The requirements only say to justify why you want to apply for this course and to write a bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests. Thanks for help in advance!
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for the Master in Chinese Economy and Business programme at the xxx
Having moved from Poland to the UK after finishing secondary education, I am currently in my final year studying BA (Hons) International Business at the xxx. Thanks to my very strong academic performance I am now on track to a first-class honours degree on completion of my undergraduate studies.
I have always been fascinated by China’s history, culture and unparalleled economic growth over the past three decades. I have further pursued my interests by completing a ten month exchange programme at the Hong Kong University during the third year of my undergraduate studies. Through this unique experience I gained a greater understanding of China’s economy and business, increased my awareness of cultural, political and social differences, and realised the importance of these differences to business.
This exchange programme has also inspired the topic of my undergraduate thesis, which focused on international technology transfer to China by Western multinational enterprises. The findings of my study emphasised the role of international technology transfer as a driver of economic growth but also revealed that the risks associated with the process are often addressed insufficiently by Western firms.
Aside from my academic studies and fascination with China, I am also a keen traveller and during a year spent in Hong Kong I have travelled to most of the Asian countries, where I made an effort to go off the beaten track and to engage with the locals and their culture. Furthermore, I enjoy a variety of sports, with squash and snowboarding being among my favourites.
I am very enthusiastic about gaining further academic insight into China’s economy and business and utilizing my previously acquired knowledge while gaining real experience of Chinese business during a three month internship in China. I am sure that I can utilize my qualities, experience and need for continual development to excel at the master’s programme. I am sure that it will be an exciting challenge, one that I am confidently looking forward to.
Yours faithfully,
