Motivation Letter for Masters Degree

Can someone please check my motivation letter and make suggestions on what to add or take away? And also can you comment on it's appeal please. Thank you!



To Whom It May Concern,



Through this letter I would like to express my desire to study at VU University in for the 2010-2011 academic year. I am applying for the Master’s degree in Business Administration: Specialization Transport and Supply Chain Management. I recently received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from .



Having studied and lived in three different continents all throughout my academic years has sparked my interest in the international business field. I have taken international business courses such as International Accounting, Global Enterprise Management, Global Entrepreneurship to name a few which broadened my horizon global business area. I also completed an internship with an import/export company over the summer of 2009 and this experience and exposure to this industry has made me want to pursue a career in this sector. In addition, having had the opportunity to study in Switzerland, Mexico, Honk Kong and the has given me the motivation and desire to continue my studies and my work in an international setting. I enjoy change and am able to assimilate quickly into new places and I adapt to people easily.



I believe that my academic as well as professional backgrounds make me an ideal candidate for this masters program. My bachelor’s degree is directly related to this program and this provides me with a competitive edge and the background to thrive in this program. Also, I have six years of work experience in the financial institution industry in Switzerland and in the as well as some experience in the import/export field.



More than ever, being well-rounded academically, professionally and academically is key to triumph in this global economy. My career aspirations after graduating are to obtain employment with a multinational corporation or with a government agency in Europe or in the . Studying in The Netherlands will further strengthen my ability and flexibility to adapt, tolerate and deal with other cultures as well as aid me in dealing with foreign affairs in the future. Additionally, living in this country will facilitate my future integration into any organization and permit for easier communication as well as give me the confidence to work with people of diverse backgrounds. The more international exposure I have forces me to look at situations from different perspectives with an objective and unbiased point of view and this will help me be a successful professional in this global economy.



Critical to my success in the masters program with this type of specialization is the university and the location. It is important to study in a place where I can be assured that I can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful both academically and professionally and VU University in is ideal. The uniqueness and challenge that this program represents makes this an appealing and rewarding master’s degree to complete for me because after graduating I will understand and be able to implement the latest supply chain management theories and I will be able to implement them. The ’s expertise and incomparable reputation worldwide in transport, trade and logistics is my main motive for choosing this country to study in. The challenges of being confronted with the dilemmas that come with working in an international environment excite me and provide me with the passion to want to discover it more.



The above mentioned qualities along with my eagerness to succeed and accomplish my goals will undoubtedly make me an asset to your university.

My studies at VU University will unquestionably help facilitate my future integration into any organization as a result of the intellectual growth I will experience. I am looking forward to the opportunity to study at VU University in and immerse myself in my studies and the Dutch culture and language thereby increasing my cultural awareness.
