Hi, I am writting a motivation letter to university that I am applying for. Could anyone tell me if what Ive written so far is good enough? grammatically and also if it serves the purpose. I will really appreciate it. Thank you!
-----------
By means of this letter I would like to formally apply for the Master’s programme in International Law (semester start).
It is only after months of research of universities worldwide that I am now convinced of my academic and career direction. The Graduate Institute stands out to me from the background noise of other universities with its outstanding curriculum, the impressive research accomplishments of its faculty and its culturally diverse student body. With my unique Mexican heritage, having lived in San Diego California and joined the efforts against drug trafficking between United States and México, coupled with my acculturation to the United States, I hope to bring a high level of cultural competency to your program and appreciation for America’s rich fiber of ethnic and cultural diversity. I have strong professional and volunteer foundation that will serve me well in your program.
I Graduated from Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) Campus Monterrey, México with a Bachelor’s degree in Law. I believe that academic as well as professional backgrounds make me an ideal candidate for this master’s program. I have always been interested in constitutional law and the protection of these fundamental rights, it wasn’t until I graduated and had the opportunity to put theory to the test that I realized my calling in life.
Currently I work for a non-profit organization based in San Diego California, which specializes in drug-use prevention among youth. Californians for drug free youth (CADFY hereinafter) is part of a coalition of state government agencies and armed forces; together, the coalition works as an intelligent agency dedicated to the eradication of illegal drug production, trafficking and consumption between the states of California (US) and Baja California (México). I have worked in CADFY as the Director of the Bi-national Exchange program for the past 3 years; I coordinate all the efforts between the coalition and the state of Baja California, México.
The experience and exposure that I had in this line of work has made me want to pursue a career in international policy development and human rights; I believe there is much work to do in both areas and it is in my passion to contribute and join the efforts of many other colleagues through research and active participation. My career aspirations after graduating are to obtain employment in international organizations such as the UN or NGO’s, I would also be very inclined to seek work in research and further my studies through a PhD.
My studies at the Graduate Institute will unquestionably help facilitate my future into any organization as a result of the intellectual growth I will experience. I am looking forward to the opportunity to study at the Graduate Institute and immerse myself in my studies and learn about Swiss culture thereby increasing my cultural awareness. My time spent in Switzerland will bring enduring transformations in all aspects of my life that will assist me in attaining my academic, personal and career goals in the global arena.
