Hi, can you revise my motivation letter if there is any mistake? Thank you.
To whom it may concern,
I would like to submit my application for long term National Visa along with this letter as I have been admitted at Justus Liebig University Giessen in the context of Erasmus program. I am currently a student at Istanbul University who is studying Private Law master.
I have graduated from Istanbul University at law in the year 2015. Following the bachelor's degree, I worked one year as a law internship to be a member of Istanbul Bar Association. During my internship, I have focused on private law issues mostly. For this reason, when I finished my internship in 2016, I decided to do master on private law and have begun my graduate study at Istanbul University again. I completed the first year of the program while at the same time I worked as a lawyer. In my first year, I focused on international arbitration law specifically as a student and lawyer. Now, I'm at the second year of my study and I am going to write a thesis to graduate from the master program. I think to write this thesis about international arbitration law and I want to do it in Germany with Erasmus program.
There are many reasons for choosing Germany to study in this matter. The main reason is that Germany is one of the best countries in the world for legal education and our legal systems are similar and linked with each other. After the founding of modern Turkish Republic, we adapted some of our codes from German Law. (For example; Code of Criminal Procedures dated 04.04.1929, Commercial Code dated 29.05.1926) Also, we adopted the same legal system with Germany which is civil law. For this reason; I think that I'll get used to German legal education easily. On the other hand, Germany has rooted history in international arbitration law. Germany is signatory state of most of the international conventions about arbitration such as New York Convention. There are a lot of respected and well-known arbitration institutes in Germany like Deutsche Institution für Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit (“DIS”), Frankfurt International Arbitration Centre (“FIAC”), German Maritime Arbitration Association (“GMAA”). I would like to benefit from this vast knowledge and experience when I write my thesis.
I have chosen Justus Liebig University Giessen for my study because Giessen is a university town which is the town with the highest student ratio of all German university towns. It is highly committed to internationalization and offers a broad range of programs that include courses held in English. JLU’s faculty of law takes part in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot which is the biggest commercial arbitration moot in the world. It offers excellent research opportunities with its research centers such as Giessen Graduate Centre for Social Sciences, Business, Economics and Law. One of the reasons that I chose Germany is to learn German and Justus Liebig University Giessen has renowned German intensive courses.
I have been thinking about my future, and about building a career and becoming a successful person. I have some concrete plans in the short term for this purpose. Firstly; after writing my thesis in Giessen, I am going to return to Istanbul University and defend my thesis to graduate from the master program. Then I want to do Ph.D. in international arbitration law with the aim of becoming an expert on this matter. My desire is to work as an international lawyer and this Germany experience is going to contribute to my goals.
In conclusion, I would very much appreciate the opportunity to study for this program at Justus Liebig University Giessen so I humbly request you to consider my application and grant me a national visa.
Thank you very much for considering my application, and I look forward to your positive response.
Yours faithfully,
