I have written a motivation letter for the German embassy interview and want to make sure it is appropriate
could someone please review and give me some advice?
Dear Sir/Madam,
Having reached a mid-level position in my banking career (I.e. Syndicated Loans Manager) and having worked with top local and multinational banks in Egypt, where I gained a unique experience of understanding the different ways of handling complex business matters through unique and different approaches and perspectives, I found out that the key driver of boosting said experience and skills is the ultimate gate to the next level in my career path locally or globally, which is “managerial level”.
Therefore, I would like to embrace this opportunity to introduce myself and support my application for pursuing postgraduate studies in finance and investments at Berlin School of Business & Innovation.
During receiving education at my university, I have developed special interest in extra curriculum activities and volunteer work stipulated in founding a student activity group called “Yes We Can” aiming at bridging the gap between students’ skills and market. As a result, I was nominated by the university to a program initiated by Ministry of Technology. This program was mainly about business process outsourcing “BPO” and the skills needed to fit in such growing industry, which has given me the opportunity of joining Vodafone Egypt as a customer care representative in 4th year of study.
The real start of my career was at Deloitte & Touché as a Junior Auditor for roughly a year. Then, I had the pleasure of joining such an icon in banking industry in the Mena Region and Africa as well (I.E. National Bank of Egypt "NBE") since August - 2013 till April 2017, where I could successfully receive my banking credit & risk management certification from the American University in Cairo "AUC" in Jan, 2015. Additionally, I earned a postgraduate professional diploma in banking credit and risk management from the American University in Cairo "AUC" in March 2016.
National bank of Egypt was definitely a corner stone, which witnessed the birth of my banking career path and was the main driver in forming the solid experience, expertise and good reputation I currently have in the market. That made it easy for me to move to several regional and multinational banks right after such as; Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Credit Agricole Egypt and Attijariwafa bank Egypt, reaching a position of a Syndicated Loans Manager supervising a team of credit analysts at Société Arabe Internationale de Banque.
Moving from a bank to another was a challenge, as those banks were new in the market, where they were trying to solidify their presence and boost their performance through introducing the product, which my department offers. That needed extra efforts to build and grow our share in the market.
My job description in brief is to structure medium & long-term loans pertaining to Greenfields and/or existing blue ships locally and regionally in coordination with other financial institutions
In parallel and in spite of being busy with my career path past few years, I have not forgotten my eagerness to volunteering. As a result, I volunteered in a program organized by the Chinese Society of Education and the UNESCO in Hebi Province, China in 2015. That program aimed at raising the awareness of locals towards world heritage sights (I.e. the great wall). That gave me the privilege of using the skills I developed and the experience I gained in the past to be a truly effective team player, planner and a leader. Afterwards and the very next year, I got invited to participate into another volunteering activity related to gender equality in Beijing, china in July, 2016 as a recognition to my performance and efforts the past year.
This experience and exposure were beneficial and taught me to make the most of my opportunities, the true meaning of punctuality and meeting deadlines and a great degree of self-discipline, building and sustaining lasting networks, presentation skills, promote inner growth in line with professional employment and many more.
Thus and after a thorough thinking, I came to the fact that pursuing postgraduate studies is necessary nowadays in such an increasingly fierce competition, where it did not take me a long to decide on Germany after coming to the fact that it is considered mecca of studies, due to the following reasons:
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Ahmed Soliman
