Hello I'm writing a motivational letter for an EVS project (European Voluntary Service). I would be really grateful if I could get suggestions how to improve it. Thank you very much in advance. Cheers!
Dear Sir/Madam:
My name (...). I am writing you this letter in order to apply for participation as a volunteer in your country. I found your program in the EVS database and I hope is still active.
After finishing high-school, I’ve decided to break from studies, so I took a gap year, where I had several occupations such as baking traditional sweets, to sell at a local shop in my hometown, worked as a door to door salesperson, and spent the summer travelling through Northern America, where I became acquainted with the countries culture and traditions.
Currently, I am finishing my Bachelors degree in Business Management, at my islands local university – University of the ..... Before enrolling in my college degree I worked as a junior accountant, and I kept that occupation during the first two years my studies. I also worked as a school administrative assistant, where I was part of a team responsible for implement the “cashless school system” which is a system that enables students to pay for their daily necessities such as food or school supplies, without needing to use real money. In that project I was responsible for introducing and managing the software data and also for training the school personnel, the students, and parents on how to use such system.
In my free time I enjoy everything related with nature. I tremendously enjoy hiking, and visiting my islands natural landscapes, which is abundant of pasture and forest covered peaks, and in spring and summer time those landscapes are covered in typical flowers such as hydrangeas and camellia roses.
My other interests include reading, listening to music, especially the traditional musical genre of my country. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, and walking my dog – I enjoy all kinds of animals.
There are many things that motivate me to participate at the EVS. I would like to get to know a new country and learn different cultures, as well as different ways of living, while I am also helping others, and making myself useful to the community. In addition to that, I would practice my English, whilst making new friends and learning a new language. I consider this project will contribute to my personal growth, as I also wish to contribute with a positive and optimism atmosphere to your project.
I am creative, independent, and open-minded to new ideas, with a curious character ready to learn. My biggest weakness is public speaking, since it makes me a little nervous, plus I also blush easily, but I would like to improve myself and I am not afraid of a challenge, as well as I look forward to a new experience.
I am sure I will be able to adjust to your project and I will be able to work easily in a multi cultural environment, I am ready to learn and I would be very grateful if you would give me a chance to contribute to this project. Thank you for your time reading this letter and I hope for a positive response. If you have any queries, please contact me via e-mail. I look forward to your reply.
Yours Sincerely,
