Motivation letter for Evolution and Ecology Master

Hello everybody. Can someone please check out my motivation letter for an international program?. Starts here:

To the admission committee:

When I was a child, I used to go hiking and fishing with my grandfather who was a self-taught naturalist. I was captivated with the explanations he gave me about the origin of the living forms around us and the way they are linked one another; those experiences stuck in my mind and that was how I naturally developed an interest in evolutionary biology. To the present day that interest has significantly burgeoned, therefore, I feel highly attracted to pursue a scientific career in that area.
Because of my profile I consider myself as a good candidate to join the MEME program; my performance during my biology bachelor attests it. For example, I was among the top students in most of the courses I took, specifically those ones related with evolutionary biology. Moreover, my undergraduate thesis was graded with the highest score (5.0/5.0) and I was given an honorable mention for it. That work was particularly meaningful because the results of my research are pioneer and can help to understand the evolutionary history of the South American foxes (Pseudalopex) as well as to design management plans for their populations.
In addition, I have gained broad experience in the “Population Genetics and Evolutionary Biology” research group at my faculty. There, I was intensively trained in DNA-cloning and sequence-analysis in neo-tropical mammals; also, I have had an active participation in seminars and lectures on trending evolution topics (phylogeography, conservation genetics and theory of population genetics for instance) directed by the head of the group; plus, working with students with different backgrounds has enhanced my inter-personal and team-work skills.
Currently, I am interested in the application of novel genomic approaches to explore issues concerned with evolution and conservation. Particularly, I feel deeply fascinated with the use of genomics to 1) survey the distribution of adaptive genetic variation along environmental gradients, 2) understand the basis and predict the effects of in- and out-breeding depression and demographic changes on the fitness in populations, and 3) analyze interactions within communities by means of genetic markers. In the long-term, I want to conduct and take part in researches on the points mentioned in the tropics as these are biodiversity hot-spots and they are poorly studied from such perspectives.
Being part of the MEME program would be a unique opportunity to carry out that purpose for the following reasons: the vast catalogue of courses offered is suitable for my expectations of a comprehensive training in both, evolution and ecology; that is consistent with my scientific goals. Furthermore, I am aware that completing such academic path would take time and resources; consequently, following a doctoral program will be necessary (I mentioned this because the program is directed to people who want to continue their careers with a doctorate). Plus, the possibility of joining different research centers (for instance, the Evolutionary Genomics Research Center at the ABC University and….) within a large network would allow me to work with some of the preeminent scientists in the evolutionary/conservation genomics field. Finally, being able to work with class/lab mates from different cultures would broaden my perspectives in the scientific world and complement my knowledge…..

Sincerely yours
My name
