Motivation letter for an IT job, need your help :)

Hi all,i'm new to this forum, my name is Lucas. I'm currently applying for a User Interface Designer job in a Mobile Industry company.This is my motivation letter, if someone could tell me if it seems ok it would help me a lot Comments welcomed! I work mainly on Windows CE mobile devices, 3' and 7' Touch wall panels, and have also worked on smart phones, internet tablets and UMPCs.Working in a start-up on a very dynamic market requires to be very proactive, that's why i am used to work under pressure, to develop prototypes to demonstrate (validate?) concepts and ideas and to deliver often.Moreover, my software engineer background makes me more effective when designing graphical applications, it allows me to have a clear understanding off the limitations behind a programming language or an API, as well as the hardware issues you face when you work on mobile devices. Since i discovered the world of mobile devices development, working for a company like *** has always been my goal.Always looking for new trends and passionate about graphic design and new technologies, i am a creative mind very enthusiastic about the idea of joining a team of talented people. Welcome to the Forum.

In my country, people send a resume when they apply for a job like this, and most of this detail goes into that. People don't use resumes in your country?

Hi Clive, we also always send a resume when applying for jobs like this,
but then generally also ask for a motivation letter. In my case as its a big and worldwide company, the apply procedure
is done through their web site, they ask for you resume but you can also post a motivation letter and it's a very good way to differanciate
yourself from the other candidates.

OK. It just seemed to me that some of the detail in your letter (eg south of France) belongs better in your resume.

I'll just suggest some edits.

Since I discovered the world of mobile device development, working for a company like *** has always been my goal.

Could you please proofread this letter of motivation? I'd be very grateful.

With this letter, I would like to apply for a scholarship to International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. I learnt about it at an educational fair and got very concerned about it.I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about my future education and career. I’ve made up my mind that I really want to get a first-class education and I consider the IB programme as a step that will help me achieve my goal. I have analyzed my personal achievements and characteristics and to my mind they meet the requirements of the programme.

To start with, I attended school ?1270 in Moscow that specializes in English for 8 years. And now I’m in the 9^th form of lyceum ? 1535. It offers a wide range of compulsory subjects (such as Russian, Geometry, Geography, History) and optional activities. My optional subject is economics and I have 4 hours of it per week. I believe, it is extremely useful for me to study economics now because I think my future studies will be closely connected with it. Moreover, it is one of the most exhilarating subjects. Among other subjects that I enjoy are History, Geography, German, English and Maths. By and large I am really well rounded and I find the entire curriculum quite captivating. The only subject that seems extremely uninteresting and challenging to me is Physics

Besides, I don’t only do what is required at school. I am quite open for challenging tasks, which I see as a foundation of my life experience. I take part in lots extracurricular activities. For instance, I participated in the conference «Scientific works of the youth» with a research of the electromagnetic radiation and its influence on organisms. Furthermore, I have taken part in competitions in Maths, Russian, economics (I have taken a second place in the economics regional Olympiad)

As to my knowledge, of English I believe it is sufficient to do well in the IB. Though I have not taken any international exams yet, I have participated in various English language contests and have achieved some good results. For example, after having got the 2^nd place in the regional tournament I participated in the Moscow City Olympiad in Foreign languages and won a third prize there.Despite the challenging course at school that requires quite a lot of homework I still have some free time which I dedicate to improving my English and German. Besides, this year I have taken up tennis and really indulge myself in it. It helps me to relax and to forget about my everyday problems. Moreover, I’m not only active academically and physically, I also take an interest in social activities. I relish helping organize various school events and writing articles to the school newspaper.

As for my personal characteristics I may say that the most vivid one is that I am very persevering and persistent. If decide to take something up I put in a lot of effort to achieve good results in it. I am really committed and capable of standing upon my individual point of view as well as being flexible to the ever-changing environment.

So that’s why I believe that I am the appropriate candidate and deserve to get the scholarship. But what is it that makes the IB programme suitable to me? First, I’ll be able to enhance my English. Then, i will get an opportunity to develop my communication skills with students from all over the world. Last but not least, I will get high quality knowledge, awesome practical experience and deep understanding of the subjects I will choose to study. And surely I consider that the CAS (creativity, action, service) system and the philosophical approach to the Theory of Knowledge are bound to be a successful foundation of my future life.
