Motivation letter for an internship in medicine

Hello everyone! I am trying to write a motivation letter for an internship in transfusion medicine. I am finding it rather difficult even though there are several posts here that help. That is probably because there are no tips on writing a letter for medical internships. I have to specify that I am not an native English speaker and even the receiver of the letter is not. All I have written till now is: The purpose of writing this letter is to request that you consider my application for a 6 month internship in transfusion medicine by your department (I will specify the name of the department). I am very keen to became an intern in your transfusion medicine department because of the long medical experience and excellent teaching that you offer. I believe the type of care provided by .............. positions me to further develop my skills in therapeutic plasma exchange and donor apheresis. As I grew up I can not recall another desire than becoming a medical doctor. And it was with this idea and motivation that I achieved my medical degree in Medicine and General Surgery in "............"university, in ................ During my first years of university I became very active with voluntarism dedicating my time to the promotion of voluntary blood donation. This activity gave me the opportunity to see closer the world of transfusion medicine. After I graduated university with excellent academic achievements, receiving for three years a scholarship, on the 1st of June 2011 I began working at the National Blood Transfusion Center.
The NBTC is the only reference center of transfusion in my country and it centralizes all blood banks of ...... Even though we have made excellent progress in transfusion medicine we are still far from the European achievements. Only in 2010 we could implement the therapeutic plasma exchange. I find this procedure fascinating and all the conditions that it covers are very interesting from a medical point of view. I am very interested to learn more about this procedure and to see how a specialized, modern and more importantly more experienced transfusion team deals with therapeutic plasma exchange and all its indications. That is why I strongly believe that an internship by your department will provide to me the necessary knowledge that will help me became more experienced (I can't find another word!) and helpful to our patients. In Albania we do not have yet the possibility to perform donor apheresis but this is in the NBTC future plans. It would be an excellent opportunity for me as a young doctor to learn apheresis in voluntary donors and be one of the first doctors to do it in my home country. Your country has by far a greater population, a greater number of procedures, a longer time of use  and of course an excellent experience in therapeutic plasma exchange than our country. This provides to me the best environment to achieve a better level of preparation that I will implement in Albania. If you give me the opportunity to study and expand my knowledge in your department it will be an amazing opportunity for me.
My background as a volunteer, an excellent student and a young motivated doctor makes me eager to study and learn by your transfusion medicine center. I am confident that I will have the skills and preparation to pursue the first apheresis donation in Albania. Thank you very much for considering my request.
