Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my passion and interest in applying for your international postgraduate scholarship to pursue a Masters degree in Cooperation and Development for this academic year XXX. I believe that with the strength and structure of it’s core multi dimensional academic disciplines, this program will be able to give me a bright jump start to an ambitious career path and I pledge to apply all my diligence and enthusiasm in turning this passion into a fulfilling career profession.
Throughout my varied work history and experience as a professional community development worker / volunteer, I have been able to work extensively with different non-profit community based organizations here in Uganda, which has undoubtedly shaped me into a compassionate person with a vision that yearns to continuing championing and advocating for progressive social change and sustainable community development.
Having participated and labored mightily in implementing and championing for desperately needed social change here in our poorest and remote neighborhoods of Uganda, I have been able to gain a whole different perspective on how the less fortunate are continuing to become helpless, oppressed, victimized and vulnerable to different social economic problems like human rights abuse, inequality, poverty, illiteracy, HIV/AIDS and unemployment.
It was here in these neighborhoods that I saw how local women, farmers, young people, elderly and the disabled all having an important story to share, all of them seeking a seat at the main table to have a dialogue and all of them clamoring to be heard. It’s here in these neighborhoods that I started developing and nurturing the desire to continue and pursue a career that will enable me to become a professional catalyst for progressive social change and development in Africa and a cross the world.Although my professional experience has not been entirely unique, my team work skills, leadership and responsibility, volunteerism spirit, motivation and determination, courage and maturity have honed my sense of commitment, self-discipline and personal sacrifice.
In addition to three-years of my undergraduate program in Adult and Community Education at the faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation of Kyambogo University and all other intensive and extensive trainings I have acquired throughout in different academic fields, I have remained fascinated and intrigued towards learning how to reach out and address different emerging enormous complexities that are globally and locally continuing to affect us here in Africa. This educational background has also enabled me to acquire a strong foundation of acute insights and rich practical knowledge and skills in a wider range of community disciplines which has prepared me for new opportunities that will develop me professionally and personally to reach out and help others.
My main intention of applying to participant at your prestigious Institute of XXX is because of your long-standing international reputation and education system that focus towards building an intellectual stimulating environment that promotes international cooperation to support students from less fortunate societies a cross the world to study and excellence in different career fields.
