Motivation letter for a design scholarship

Dear Sirs:

I am writing to apply for the XXX scholarship, “XXX”, University of XXX
I am a last year Design student at the Décor Department, faculty of Fine Arts minor of Scenography Design, XXX University, who possess a combination of talent, distinct personality, originality and a healthy competitive attitude. I was the top of my class at the second year grading excellent and ranked the second place for the third year grading Excellent too, I was chosen as the "Ideal student" for the Decor department for three successive years .In August 2010 I attended a course of Product Design (IDSS) in Bologna University, Italy and in June 2010 I was a product design Intern at the Innovation lab of the leader office furniture company in the Middle East (XXX) doing design researches on office furniture. Through my studies & my experience I became fascinated with issues of Product Design and product development researches. Being a student at the Faculty of Fine Arts, I consider changing or making life better through Art & Design as my main target which I can achieve by product designing, I am very familiar with design research, design methodologies and problem solving techniques, as well as an outstanding skills of sketching, technical drawing and 3d modeling, Highly motivated person and willing to learn by all means.

I was chosen to be the Head of Innovation committee of the 14^th The Arab league Model United Nations 2010, XXX University also designed a Logo for the same model and Book cover for the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of United nations). I Was selected by XXX university to represent the university in the 22^nd (TEIMUN) The European International Model United Nations. Also volunteered to organize the Fourth International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference, in Alexandria, Egypt 2009

I am applying for the mentioned programme because I found it a problem in Egypt, that unfortunately Egypt is not an active contributor in the international forum of product design and that’s why its important to develop product design in Egypt. We can prove the Egyptian Identity as we have opportunities as developing country to design products which are appropriate to our own market. Domestic producers and designers have the advantage of knowledge of their local market and environment, as well as proximity to customers. “XXX” course is a one year taught course which contains very well put academic taught modules, and also a Project to enhance the students skills, I am applying in the University of XXX because it has an established reputation for the provision of professionally and vocationally focused courses, supported by a broad programme of applied research and consultancy, XXX was ranked as one of the top 'modern universities' in the UK by four major university guides including the Guardian and the Times University Guides 2010. XXX students work on real projects for real companies, or show their work in recognized public arts venue, all before completing their studies. And that what would give me a great opportunity to deal with the international market and experience the design society in UK which is the largest all over Europe.

I am applying XXX scholarship because its known for being a very well organized scholarship as a project of Erasmus Mundus action 2, that has some objectives one of them is to enhance the higher education in third countries also known for transparency, enabling students to benefit linguistically, culturally and educationally from the experience of pursuing academic studies in another country as well.

I have made the necessary contacts with the XXX contact person Mr. XXX to ensure that I am eligible to apply for the academic year 2011.

With a solid foundation in academic theory on Product Design and intensive research gained through the XXX program at the XXX, I am confident that I will have the skills, knowledge and contacts that will enable me, as a Product designer, to deal with the complex issues of the urban condition in my country.
