Motivation letter design

Hello! Please help me to write a motivation letter for applying the Semester abroad in Media
Design Program. This is my first experiance and is very important fo me.
Thanks in advance.
Lena.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I'm a professional graphic and media designer. I am writing to apply for the Semester abroad (Audiovisual Media Culture Program) in autumn 2011.
At Saint-Petersburg Art School of N.K. Roerich I gained experience in graphic design and classical art such as painting and drawing. Knowledge in these areas is integrated in my work today, and is something I feel could be explored further in the development of my self-expression in design.
Some years after I graduated from the Art School of N.K. Roerich my interest turned from graphic design to the design that not only communicates but also interacts with the user. In June 2010 I graduated with honours from Saint-Petersburg University of Arts and Culture, Russia, with a Specialist Degree in Media Design. There I obtained knowledge in programming, video art and flash-animation.
During the past six years, I have worked in organizations and companies specialized in advertising and art. These rewarding experiences have given me broad exposure to design, using software...
I'm interested in design thinking and research, international collaboration and taking part in challenging projects.
"Media technologies in contemporary museums" is the subject of my research work at the moment. During the program I am applying for, I would like to learn more about new audio-visual technologies and design tracks in order to expand my skills in the area of media-design. On your web site I've found about the specialization in Media-design....
I would really appreciate the opportunity to continue my education in Lapland University in order to raise my professional status.
Here are links where you can see my portfolio. This portfolio is a collection of some of my works, created both during my education and work.

Yours faithfully,
Elena.

Hello Lena; The main problem with your motivation letter is organization. It jumps around among different topics - education, experience and your artistic interests and creations. So your letter does not have a sound logical flow and that makes it very confusing.

  • You could put all your education in one paragraph, your experience and interests in a second, and your aspirations and interest in this course in the third.
  • Or you could organize it by time sequence.

Hi leros111;

Please, could you check again my letter again?Thank you very much.

It is much better, but I would include more specific, rather than general statements. for example, you could cite the names of artists, cultures, or design styles that have influenced you. You could give the thesis of your current research (in addition to the title), etc. General
