Thank you millions time in advance!
All candidates must write a letter of motivation. Please provide good arguments about why you want to do this master's programme at Maastricht University and why you believe that you can successfully complete the programme.
Dear Sir/Madam,
In this motivation letter, I would like to outline my personal reasons and goals due to which I want to follow the master degree in Global Supply Chain Management and Change in the University of Maastricht.
I have obtained a bachelor degree in the fields of Financial Control. During my studies, I used the possibility to participate in an international exchange program in Switzerland and successfully passed exams in English. The gained multicultural experience and skills to independently deal with a variety of situations have enriched me and expanded my view enormously. Consequently, I decided that I would eventually pursue a master degree in a foreign country.
As I feel comfortable and enjoy cooperating with people having different perspectives and values, I preferred to work in transnational corporations such as Ingram Micro and Coca-Cola Enterprise. Having the chance to support a supply chain team, I often initiated conference calls or meetings at work to acquire further information on processes and issues. What was intriguing to me was the complexity within the supply chain area, more precisely, be aware of the big picture and at the same time keep track of all the relevant information in order to prepare and present an adequate report or an analysis. Being responsible for the preparation of forecast for cost of goods sold and monitoring stock replenishment process in Coca-Cola Enterprise, I was fascinated by the possibility to change and influence the organization, to create value and constantly discover insights about the process of work. Thus, I figured out that forecasting, revenue management and mitigating risk within the supply chain are the areas in which I would like to direct my career path. I feel happy when colleagues ask me for advice and I can help them resolve issues so I would like to be an expert in my desired fields of study and work. Therefore, I need professional knowledge.
After several months of research, I determined that the master program in Venlo would mostly help me achieve my goals. What attracted me is the specialized curriculum and the practical approach. The program seems to be designed particularly for me – organized from methods to application and nothing redundant. It will allow me to immerse in the sphere. The subjects that immediately capture my attention are the once related to mathematical techniques and approach to leading projects. Studying in small groups is and extra advantage as I would be able to receive personal feedback and polish my communication skills. Apart from all these benefits, the presence of clusters in supply chain fields in Netherlands indicates to me that the most updated methods and technologies are used in practice and I presume that they will be reflected in the course of studies.
I have to highlight that - especially in my home country, the program does not have equivalents in terms of content and ranking, so it will make my profile stand out in job competitions. Eventually, I would like to apply the learnt knowledge in promising industries such as pharmacy and airline services, being responsible for optimization strategies, forecasting demands, and being able to lead efficiently projects in the same fields. On the short term, I would be able to secure a good position in decent companies and in the long term, I would have the knowledge based on which I can further advance – being an independent consultant or project leader.
My ability to cope with an intensive mode of work in multicultural environment is demonstrated by my participation in two projects for the outsourcing of activities from Barcelona to Sofia. Furthermore, I am self-organized person as I managed to combine studying French language, 600 hours aggregate time, with full-time working as an accountant. During my annual reviews, my managers and team members have all concluded that I have logical personality and negotiation skills. With my experience and personal traits, I can face the challenge to study the demanding program in Venlo, cooperating with other students and lecturers. My initiative and talkative personality, and ambition to perform well will contribute to my successful performance during the program.
All my close friends, colleagues and family members encourage me to undertake this step in my career growth. I feel mature enough and aware of my strengths and weaknesses, and most importantly – aware of my capabilities and desires. Hence, I have the support and willingness to be valuable participant in the master program Global Supply Chain Management and Change. Now is the right moment in my professional and personal path to complete the master program and Venlo is the right place.
It has a lot of unnatural English. I stopped reading after 5 minutes because I was too distracted by the awkward writing to continue considering the cohesiveness and logic of the content.
