MOTIVATION LETTER

I'm writing my motivation letter for a Master degree in international management, could you help me to improve it?

To whom it may concern,

With this letter I would like to express my strong interest in your Master in International Management (XX). I strongly believe that this Master degree will enrich my knowledge and help me to leverage my future career. Moreover, I consider this as a great opportunity to acquire the right means to work in enterprises, in particular in enterprises which compete in an international market and to get close to my ambition: working in a company in the Health-and-Wellness sector.
It includes many of the topics I am most interested in: from Brand Management and Marketing right up to Business Strategy and Entrepreneurship. In particular, I was really impressed by XX’s international focus and the actual possibility it gives to start building a business network. I also find very stimulating the attention given to the practical activities (fieldwork, company visits, seminars) and the way you integrate them with the more traditional in-class lessons.

During the course of my education career I have always made my choices on the bases of my aims. Right from the start, when I decided to enrol in the Liceo Classico-Linguistico XX(humanistic – linguistic high school) of Ravenna, it was my passion and curiosity for travelling and foreign languages (developed during the many trips I had done from the time I was a child) that oriented my choice. Here I was given the opportunity not only to learn several foreign languages, such as English, French and Spanish, but also to widen my point of view and start identifying in a more precise way where my interests lie, giving me the possibility to make a better decision.

At University I selected the Clabe- Bachelor in Business and Economics a degree which, as well as giving me a solid economic background and knowledge of topics such as management, marketing and business law, also helped me, as it is held entirely in English, to develop my linguistic competence in these specific sectors. These two aspects have given me the possibility of having qualified access to international higher education.

This degree was an opportunity to grow academically but also from a human and cultural point of view. Academically, I was able to increase my knowledge of Economics and I have studied in depth many of the subjects such as International economics, International marketing, International business law, all topics included in the first year program of the XX. Culturally, since it was my first international experience in terms of team work: I met people from all over the world and expanded my network of contacts. I consider this aspect as fundamental and I strongly believe that it is one of the major benefits that XX would bring me.

In the course of the three years I carried out a University Internship Programme, which led me to work for “XX”, a cosmetics export company. During this experience, I started to learn and understand the mechanisms and roles which exist in a company, gradually realising that this is the world I wanted to be part of. In particular, the role of International Brand Manager, as it is a mix of many concepts I find interesting in life and in work. To work in contact with as well as together with many diverse worlds… both international and intercompany, to learn to understand a market and transform the idea of your product / brand to better suit it, are fascinating features of this profession.

After my graduation, while waiting for the next phase of my studies to begin, I started working at XX (Regulatory Authority for Water and Waste Management).
By analysing annual financial statements, I learned how to use the system which measures the economic financial balance of Water and Waste Management companies. This allowed me to actually put in practice some of the notions I acquired during my studies and to understand that I am inclined towards a learning technique based on a more pragmatic approach. This is why I have chosen to continue studying following a Master course and not a second level degree (Laurea Specialistica) which is structured around a more traditional learning / teaching approach.
In fact, it has become quite clear to me, talking to some of your students and analysing your website, how important is practical experience in XX.

The teaching method of your Master makes it possible for me to study in detail but most of all in a different and modern way, many topics that have interested me over the years, as for example Management and Marketing. Key aspects for my professional development, mostly oriented towards the Wellness sector and international markets. In addition XX’s partnerships with a number of companies and the possible interactions with them, leads me to think that the contents of the course will be presented in a dynamic way. This is an extremely important aspect for a person like myself at the beginning of a professional life.

Amongst these partners, I am particularly attracted to Technogym and its success story, given both its sector (wellness) and its business model. Last and not least, I feel that Technogym reflects, with its work philosophy based on involving the staff in a healthy and active way of life, my own style and passions.

Also, the possibility of doing the second year of the Master in Brazil, is another aspect that I find particularly stimulating. It would enable me to satisfy my desire for international experiences and I would be able to discover a new language and culture. Furthermore, I would be focusing my attention on one of the most active parts of the world, which is developing extremely fast and which has always fascinated me: Latin America.
