Letter Writing

motivation letter

I have written motivation letter to Master in development sciences program. Could anybody help me with it?
I am applying to your master program «Master in development studies» starting in 2015. International Development began to worry me in student days, which prompted my interest in finding articles in periodicals and books devoted to topical issues of world politics and economy of the military-political conflicts in some regions up to the problems of poverty and misery in the "third countries". The curriculum at the University could not fully satisfy my needs in the study of the contradictions of development, so I became an independent capabilities to become more familiar with different aspects of development, also my attention was attracted by the international organizations in terms of their contribution to regional and global socio-economic development . So I was happy to get the chance to take part in the game "Model United Nations", which was held at my university. Collaborate with other students within the section "Security Council" helped me to understand what the important contribution is made by international organizations such as the UN in solving the complex problems of modern humanity. In addition, I gained valuable experience of working in the team. The value of this experience was that in a relatively short period of time we had to not only meet, but also to understand the benefits of each team member and use them for the benefit of achieving a common result.
After graduation, being aware of the complexity of this interdisciplinary direction, I began to attend trainings and courses on various aspects of development, including migration, conflict, human development, integrity, competitiveness, intellectual property protection and etc. I really hope that this knowledge will allow me to successfully master the curriculum and achieve excellent results in their studies.
I always come up with great enthusiasm to participation in social activities and perceived it as a great opportunity to improve my skills in leadership and communication. For the first time I showed my organizational skills in high school, when I was asked to prepare a team for performance at the competition devoted to the national holiday. We were given complete freedom of action, so we are taking all the decisions and find a way out of the problems that arose during preparation for the competition, including the development of ideas, the choice of costumes and musical accompaniment, etc. Creative approach and competent organization helped our class to take second place in this competition. Ability to guide, inspire, support team members, and allocate responsibilities in accordance with the possibilities of each team member helped me also at the University of the competition in the English language to take the second prize. At work, my talent as an organizer has not gone unnoticed, and the annual student competition is not passed without my participation.
Recently, my attention was drawn to the project management. Since the objectives of the international and national development are achieved through projects, I became interested in their application Kyrgyzstan. I was lucky enough to take part in the training on the evaluation of projects and programs, including national and international. So I was only fragmentary knowledge in this area, but further professional development I associate with the participation in projects on various aspects of development, I signed up for a course on project evaluation, conducted by an international network of monitoring and evaluation (IPEN). I hope that this knowledge will help me in the realization of the projects on local development.
Currently I engaged in teaching, and I think this work is a good start for career growth and enriching a variety of skills and knowledge. Firstly, this work helped me gain confidence and public speaking skills. Secondly, I got the possibility to develop the ability to express my own thoughts clearly and consistently, both orally and in writing, as well as explain my own point of view. Thirdly, I had a great experience in communications.
For two years, I worked at two universities, and combined teaching work with administrative posts and self-education. I can say with certainty that it was the most difficult years of my life, but at the same time I gained invaluable experience working under time pressure, and develop the ability to always soberly assess the situation. I gained invaluable skills of prioritization, planning my time, rapid assessment of the problem and find a suitable solution.
The first modest steps in the research I did after graduation. I was always worried about the fate of Kyrgyzstan in the world economy, so my scientific potential I dedicated to development of competitive strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic, which would enable it in the long run to take its rightful position on the world stage. But trying to solve this problem, I realized that I do not have research skills and knowledge of advanced research methods. These gaps I hope to eliminate through study at your institute. In addition, I realized that also that any strategy will not display the current state of Kyrgyzstan, while the threat that hinder its development are not eliminated, among which the most dangerous is drug trafficking. Literature analysis showed that the problem of drug economy has been neglected, so I hope that the institute will allow me to carry out research on this subject, because it is very critical for Kyrgyzstan. I have a strong belief that in other university I would be unable to carry out such a research. Only in your institute there are all necessary conditions for this. The Institute is located in the center of world politics and economy - Geneva, where it is concentrated all the major international organizations such as the UN, World Economic Forum, and others. I hope that the work in the archives and libraries of these organizations will allow me to get a fresh look at the problem. In addition, study at your institute is also a great opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural characteristics of different countries through communication with students and teachers. I was also attracted by the unique opportunity to study French and German, as they are the official languages in Switzerland. And of course, perhaps the most important advantage of your institute, this is your carriculum. After reviewing the master's program at other universities, I was convinced that my choice is correct. I also hope that I will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in research projects of your institute.
I have a great hope to study at your institute, because I think it is good start for my career. I know at least a few people for whom graduation served as a good calling card and allowed to get higher position, get an interesting job in international organizations and projects. I hope that I can achieve the same success after the graduation of the institute.
Given my past history of commitment to excellence, I am confident that I will bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm to your program. I am sure to exceed your expectations, because of both my academic and interpersonal skills as well as the experience. I will enrich the program by enabling fellow students and professors to benefit from my ambitious and open nature.
Thank you for considering my application and I look forward to your acceptance.
Sincerely yours,
Shamurzaeva Ailuna.
