Motivation letter

Good Evening
I wrote a letter of motivation for a PhD application. The Ph.D topic is about control and optimization. I made it checked already my friends who are more experienced than me, but if you could be so kind to have a look too, it would really help me

thanks for helps

Dear Prof. *****,
I am writing to apply for a Ph.D. student position in the Automatic Control Laboratory at **** Institute of Technology, City. In 2012 I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics with honor *** laude, placing in the top five of my class. During my third year of my bachelor program, I became fascinated by control subject while taking any course of control theory. I never imagine before that control systems are very close in our live and give many benefits. At present I am furthering my academic studies in the field of Instrumentation and Control master program at the *** Institute, especially on modeling, control and optimization. I was awarded with an prestigious scholarships in ***Institute for my master program for my high academic achievement when I was bachelor degree. This scholarship covers all of my school fee. In December 2013 I will obtain a Master of Science degree, and I expect to place among the very best students of my year.

In my final years on bachelor degree, i have done the simulation of dynamic response in yaw motion of aircraft while optimal control was applied on this model. Also, in my first year in master program, I have done a project for optimization course. This project is about minimization the energy loss while the interconnection of any source power. The Supervisor for both of this course is ****, Ph.D.

I had the opportunity to undertake my master thesis work on “Theoretical Modeling of **** Flow Meter” at the Industrial Instrumentation Laboratory, ***Institute, within a cooperation project between Prof. ***, Dr.Eng and Dr.-Ing. ***. The thesis project accepted on 3rd International Conference on Instrumentation, Control and Automation, 2013. By conducting laboratory and class activities, I sharpened my critical thinking and analysis as well as acquired advanced skills and techniques, especially those related to modeling, control and optimization.

While I doing my master program, I also involved in any collaborative research project with industrial company. I have done as a research assistant in the project of metering system and Expander Technology for *** (national gas company). I have the similar responsibility in the project metering system for *** (National Oil Company). My responsibility is to doing the physical modeling of metering and regulating station of gas and calculating the energy which potentially harvested by the expander-generator system.

My thesis work and background course led me to become interested in more theoretical topics, such as convex optimization. Because this theory is still develops, I am even more enthusiastic to investigate the LMI model, which is of key importance in the comprehension of solving the optimal value in the regime of any physical problems. For these reasons, I want to continue my studies at the Automatic Control Laboratory at *** Institute of Technology, for its renowned reputation in topics that ignite my curiosity the most

Given my record of high academic achievement and strong interest in your division research, I am certain that, if given the opportunity, I will enjoy working on the research project: “Smart Building Networks”. Furthermore, because this subject is a personal passion, I will do my best to exceed your expectations. In addition to my academic qualifications, I am confident that my background and interdisciplinary education will add more diversity to your program.

Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to receiving your acceptance.

Sincerely yours,
