Motivation letter

Hello everyone, I would be very glad if you help me with some issues regarding my motivation letter. I want to ask some questions about what is the difference of an effective and poor written letter? and if you can give me some points of how to write an effective letter. I want to apply to the Netherlands and i have a short period of time to write one. i would be very glad if i receive help and comments. thank you
