Dear Sir or Madam

I am applying for masters’ scholarship on xxxxxxx at CCIM. My name is Eva J, aged 27 years old. My career goals after studies is to be an international forest researcher dealing with complex issues that faces forest sector and conservation as a whole.

November 2000 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry at Faculty of xxxxx at xxxx University. I developed my interest in forestry since I was young and it was due to the fact that Forestry is an important factor in life. All human activities are related to and depend on forest especially in rural areas were most of the people are found, also the urban community depend much on forest products for sustaining their life, the demand for fuel wood, poles, charcoal are increasing and this is due to the increase in the potential for trees and forests to contribute to the sustainable development in tropical and sub tropical countries. Human activities in several fields such as fishery, agriculture, wildlife and environment will run well if are well integrated with forestry.
As a graduate student from Department of forestry, faculty of XXX of xxxxx University, I had numerous opportunities to do many activities. From 2008 to 2000, I had chances to attend a field practical training at xxx centre for forestry practical at xxxxxx city , also I worked as an intern at xxxxxxx for about two months and through this I gained enough knowledge and practical experience based on forestry.

Currently I am working as a data entry clerk for xxxxxxxx project. My responsibilities are entering data into database, cleansing the data and involving in data analysis. Also my undergraduate programme has given me a strong background in the fundamentals of various mathematics especially statistics, and while in university I did my research as to assess the agroforestry contribution to household food security at xxxxxx village, while Excel package and Statistical package for social science (SPSS) where used for analysis.
I am confident with my decision to study at CCIM because of your outstanding educational system, focus on gathering relevant work experience, and your excellent facilities and best theoretical foundation. I hope that I will bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm to your program. I am sure to exceed your expectations, because of both my academic and interpersonal skills as well as the experience gained through working with xxxxxxxxxx
I consider myself to be a good candidate for CCIM Scholarship because I am young, energetic, hardworking, visionary, and motivated person who believes that I can do something for the benefit of my country to which I have been working. I am confident that I will have the skills, knowledge and contacts that will enable me as a forestry expert to contribute in conservation and mitigation of climate change impacts.

Therefore; it is my hope that this two-year master’s course will help me to deal with the complex aspects of contemporary tropical forest, the dependence on wood-based fuel, non-wood forest products and services are crucial to the livelihood of millions of poor people mainly in rural areas, also the demand for timber is high for both the domestic economy and export.
