Dear Sir/Madam,

I am hereby applying for entrance to Fashion & Management program starting in September 2012 at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute.

My name is S.V., I am 18 and I live in Venice, Italy. I attended elementary school and middle school in Venice. Being always interested in new experiences, every year while I was in middle school I participated in cultural exchanges in Germany, which gave me the opportunity to spend a period abroad studying the foreign language, experiencing different ways of living and socializing with local people. For sure that helped me to become an open-minded person. Moreover in this period of my life I started to pactice modern dance, I had praticed it for eight years and it has taught me a lot of things including how important is being in tuning with a group of people. When I finished middle school I decided to choose the venetian scientific high school where I had the chance to develop my interest for scientific subjects. Meanwhile I have always cultivated a big passion for the world of fashion: I consider fashion an art which gives the opportunity for everybody to express feelings and moods, an art which changes and reinvents itself countinuosly and that makes me dream. I have travelled in different countries during my holidays and I observed how significant is fashion in all cultures. Besides my city allowed me to express my creativity during carnival creating my own costumes.
I am now at my last year of high school and I strongly wish for my future to match my studies in high school with my fondness: scientific subjects with fashion.

Since I have never studied fashion as a subject I really want to learn more about fashion in all its facets. I am particularly interested in the backstage of the fashion business, how a product, after being created, leaves the industry, is distributed in the retail markets, is advertised and eventually finds its buyer. My ambition is to let fashion become my work.

I have choosen Fashion & Management at Amsterdam Fashion Institute for many reansons. First of all because of its international aspect and high standard of education. I firmly believe that nowadays it's important to be able to interact with people with different backgrounds, staying in contact with young men and women from others countries, and therefore culture, is a deep personal enrichment and exactly what I am looking for. Furthermore I belive Holland to be an advanced and open to innovations country with very tolerant inhabitants.

In addition my recent visit to the school stregthened my will to attend AMFI: I immediately liked the building outside and inside because of its tidiness, organization and modern equipment, I perceived the atmosphere of cooperation between students and I had a concrete example of the efficency of the school visiting the AMFI statement store and reading the ANT magazine.
