Well I wrote my first ever motivational letter, I'm not a native speaker and I'll have to send it to universities soon enough, I want to study international studies bachelor..
Maybe somebody could fix it or help me out?
Dear sir or madam,
With this letter I hope to explain my reasons for applying to your bachelor program of international relations at your university in year 2012-2013. My choice was partly made for me, throughout my whole life. Ever since I was little, my parents used to take me to with themselves everywhere, which made me more sociable and communicative, than most of the others. While at the same time, everywhere included foreign countries. That let me see a lot of european countries, I loved to travel, loved meeting new people, not only with different faces, but different cultures and believes...
My wish to learn more about people, their lives in different places and different cultures, was started by my lifestyle itself. But that's not where my connection with people ends. Continuing about foreign countries and foreign people, I must mention, that I attented MEP baltic sea region 2011. Even though I had a lot of information to read and analyse before discussing and controverting with others, but the information was really actual and related to nowadays, so reading it was a dessert. Also, I had a great time, discussing with my temporary colleagues and as well, those debates provided me with great experience related to politics and international concerns.
Last, but not the least was my experience in my country, my social life and free time. As most teenagers waste their free time, sometimes, so do I. I do go out with friends, go to live concerts, which helps me socialise and and understand people. But besides that, I have found some time to test myself, if I was going the right way. International relations need extremely good communication and in my opinion, you need to be really tolerate and courteous. I assisted in one mentally disabled people day care center for about 5 years. I liked the experience, because it was kind of challenging, but at the same time - enjoyable. I would dare to say, that this experience raised my communication skills even more, as I had to convince them to do certain things or simply help them out in various ways, using both verbal and non-verbal languages.
I think I should be accepted, because I have been very sociable since my early childhood and have a very big range of experience in communicating, from simple chatting at school with my classmates, to chatting up random strangers in live concerts and finally to discussing about various europe-wide problems in MEP Baltic sea region debates. That is only a part of it, as my work with mentally disable people has shown my hard-working nature and will as well as big tolerance, and I dare to say, that these virtues are one of the foundations in international relations.
Sorry if it's really horrible...
