Motivation letter

I want to apply for masters in software engineering and for this I have to write a motivation letter for a french university. But i dont know what to write in this letter , Each time I try to write something , it looks more describing about france rather than the main course. Can someone please help me in wriring this letter and giving me the terms that i need to mention for masters in software engineering.
