Motivation letter

Hi,

I am applying for a spot at a university in Antwerp. I have to complete an application form and want to add a motivation letter.
This is what I came up with so far.

Dear Mr *********,

In support of my application form for entrance to the MTMM program at ITMMA for the 2010-2011 class I would like to introduce myself briefly.

Following my father's example I started my studies at the Antwerp Maritime Academy and graduated as a Master in the Nautical Science. I am currently employed as a apprentice officer on board the Cristobal Colon, Jan De Nul's largest trailing suction hopper dredger.

To insure a future career ashore I want to distinguish myself from other Maritime Academy students. I feel the MTMM program can add a great surplus value to my current degree as I think The MTMM program starts where my previous education stopped.

As I have no intention in expanding my career at sea on the long run and therefore I prefer joining ITMMA short after my previous graduation. This way I will have less difficulties adapting to be a student again.

By Joining ITMMA next academic year I aim to specialize myself in transport and port related issues. This will allow me to start a new career ashore at young age. Combined with the managerial training I find the MTMM program to be offering the perfect mix for a future successful career in the maritime sector, which is still the most economic drive in this region.
