Motivation Letter

Dear Friends,

Would you please help me in reviewing this motivation letter. I don't know whether it is sufficient and acceptable as a motivation letter.

I choose to pursue Master of Science in Water and Environmental Management in xxx at xxxx University, as I have been working in the field of Water and Sanitation for more than 7 years; hence I have recognized several institutions that suitable to my desire; to improve expertise in water and sanitation. xxxx is definitely the most advance education institutes in such sector that I can rely on to enrich my portfolio.

My interest on environmental issues has risen since I studied civil engineering years ago. My final assignment project was a study on solid waste transportation management in xxxx City. It was considered as one of the earliest studies on urban solid waste management, therefore occasionally used as reference by the younger students of civil engineering department in my university.

I started my professional career as project officer for a local NGO, xxx in April xxxx. My main responsible were preparing detailed engineering design of community based sanitation infrastructure, managing construction and ensure the construction quality comply with technical standard. I moved to xxxx in a post-emergency (reconstruction) mission in xxxx Province in November xxxx. I was holding an intermediate management level; supervising certain number of local field hygiene promoters and engineers. I was involved mainly in preparing project design, project management execution and developing guidelines.

I have been joining xxxx since November xxxx, working closely with local government managing various xxxx projects components; capacity building, rural, urban and school. My main duty is to strengthen the competency of government at the provincial and districts level in governing water and sanitation program. Being able in properly manage water and sanitation program will undeniably increase the sustainability of its infrastructures.

During my career within xxxx, I have exposed many new challenges, as my responsibility level has been shifted considerably from the technical to management level. I became to realize that my knowledge is limited, specifically in effective and efficient water and sanitation governance; including strategic planning, financing, institutional arrangement and policy development aspects. Those perspectives are urgently required in order to be able to support government of xxxx in managing water and sanitation development appropriately.

In addition, xxxxx is now considered as a middle income country and is facing a new challenge in water and sanitation sector. Despite of its rapidly economic growth, the investment in health sector; particularly in provision of safe water and sanitation is lacking. Recent World Bank report said that xxxxx losses about 6.3 billion dollar annually due to poor sanitation access. Moreover, a big disparity occurs on budget allocation for water and sanitation development in eastern xxxx. Inequality is perceived mainly in xxxxx, one of the poorest provinces in xxxx, where I have been working in the last three years. One of the most challenging tasks is to convince local government in allocating more funds to provide safe water and sanitation.

Thus, if I am fortuned to study in xxxx, I believe that I could contribute to xxxxx's future prosperity by being able to address those mentioned challenges and provide better leadership. In addition, I can broaden my professional perspective in xxxx by sharing with different kind of people from various backgrounds. Upon completion of my postgraduate study, I would like to extend my commitment in ensuring the provision of safe water and sanitation, especially in eastern part of xxxxxx.
