Statement of Motivation

I am a student at the University of *** and at the moment I am doing the last (second) section of the study “***”.

Some reasons were decisive, why I decided to attend this exchange program at the "***" in ***.

Since my studies are based on the knowledge of languages, next to the economic aspect, I feel that this experience is a suitable possibility to improve the acquired linguistic competences.

On the other hand the acquaintance with a new culture is of an overriding importance. I already had the opportunity to gain an insight in the *** culture in advance, since I am *** by descent. There are some similarities, which make it easier to adopt parts of the culture. Moreover I have some greek friends, who also study at the University.

Not only these benefits contribute to an overall positive picture of this experience, but also the fact that studying abroad is a great opportunity for me to widen my horizon. I consider the fact of being able to handle differnet situation over the whole word, important.

Next to many exchange programms during my school time (where i gained a considerable amount of experience, i am confident, that this exchange is a suitable opportunity to improve these intercultural knowledge.
To get in contact with a lot of different people and their culture and get to know and experience them personally are very important stages to develop your personality and broaden your horizons.
This intercultural development will Continues to influence interactions with people from different cultures.

Next to these motivations, the academic reasons were decisive. The University of *** a huge amount of courses, which on the one hand interest me, and on the other hand suit perfectly to my study plans.
As I am specializing on “***“ (at Prof. D. ***’ chair), these courses are suitable:
*** of ***

Apart from the offered courses, which suit to my specialisation, some courses are offerd, which broaden my knowledge of my optional subject Environmental Economy.
***
(with emphasis in: ***)

My expectations of this stay abroad are multilayered. Next to the already mentioned social compentencies and the establishment of contacts I hope to get some insight in the *** everyday life, which is refused to tourists and visitors of ***, who stay only for a short period of time.

Altough i know that there might be a lot of cultural differences, due to my passion for meeting challenges I am willing to get to know this new country and see this as a chance to improve my competence and acquire new experience..

Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response.

Sincerely yours,
