Hello, I am at the moment trying to write a motivation letter for a university, it isn't actually a real motivation letter, but a field on the Internet site (I have to apply online). There is a field, which has to be filled in, the question is: Why do you wish to study at ***, and what motivated your choice of study programmes?
Do you think I am supposed just to write an answer to this question, without a typical form of a motivation letter? This is what I wrote by now:
I would like to apply for the Master's in European Law or ***
My choice to study at the ** is motivated by different factors. I have always been very interested in the European Union, its history and current issues and since having started university studies – in European Law. I have decided to study a combination of three different subjects: my major field of study is French and Spanish Philology, which I chose in order to learn more about those two European countries and their languages. My secondary field of studies are political science and public law, with the specialisation “European Law, International Law and International Organisations”. My degree in the field of political sciences focuses on international and European relations. Good knowledge of European languages, as well as good understanding of European issues constitute a necessary fundament for my main interest: European and International Law.
I am very interested in studying European Law at ***, in order to deepen my knowledge and skills gained until now. I am mainly interested in the Commercial Law, which is also the topic of my final exam. My second choice would be to study ***, with the focus on Single Market and its regulations.
During my traineeships in the *** in Germany, in the *** in Brussels and at the ** I have realised, that if I do want to pursue a career either in a non-governmental organisation or in the field of politics, good knowledge of law is indispensable. Finishing a Master’s Degree in European Law or *** would give me great possibilities for a future career.
I have always been interested in politics and law, already in high school I have participated and won twice a laureate title in a contest:***, with the focus on constitutional law. The laureate title gave me a right to study law at any chosen university in my country, but I have decided to study abroad, in order to gain an international experience. During my studies at the university in *** and than in *** I have concentrated on European Law. I have always participated in additional lectures and courses in order to broaden my knowledge, a chance to study at *** would be a great opportunity for me to gain solid knowledge in the field of European Law.
I lived a couple of months in Brussels in 2005/2006, where I was learning French and making an internship at ***. In this time I have participated in the European Studies Fair 2006, where I had a chance to speak to the representatives of ***, who answered many of my questions. I have also seized the opportunity to speak with postgraduate students of ***, who were doing their internships at the European Commission; they explained me a lot from a student’s point of view. This inspired me in the first place to apply for this course.
Could someone please tell me, if it is ok?

Erm, I'm still waiting for any comments. I must honestly say, that it's my very first motivation letter and I have no idea at all what to write. I read some hints on this forum, but I still don't know if my letter is acceptable.
