Letter Writing

Motivation for applying to CERN; Please review my writing.

Hi everyone! I'm applying for the summer student programme at CERN and they require me to write about my motivation for applying. It's not a letter, so please don't review it like so. Make any changes you think are necessary! Thanks in advance.

From a young age, I have always been fascinated by the mysteries of the universe. From particles to stars, I am frequently searching for articles and scientific papers regarding the observation of natural phenomena and the questions evoked. Finding solutions to those questions feels very rewarding. Not long after my initial introduction to science, I realized its numerous applications in everyday life, improving every aspect of it.
As a senior in high school, I had no doubt that I would follow the path of science. The choices I was presented with were many, most notably physics, chemistry and computer science. At that point in time, I was not sure about what would be best for me, but I chose to study computer science, because I was already familiar with computers and programming. Today, I am certain I made the right choice. Computer science is the bridge between the different science fields, developing tools and providing new and improved algorithms every day, to help the advancement of research.
The reason I am applying for the CERN summer student programme is not solely based on my interest for science. During high school I was lucky be given the opportunity to visit CERN, during an educational trip arranged by my school. After listening to what the professionals there had to say, about the work being done at CERN, I felt enchanted. Both the facilities and the community surrounding CERN, inspired me to work hard, so that I could someday become a part of one of the biggest scientific organisations in the world.
Finding out I could attend lectures and experiments and even take part in certain projects, as a student of computer science, expanding my knowledge, while being at the epicenter of scientific discovery, I was captivated. Restricted in my country and university I would never have the chance to participate in such a significant programme and make connection with computer science professionals as well as scientists from every field working for CERN.
After writing this section of my application, it is crystal clear to me how much I want to attend this programme and I will make the most out of my visit, given the opportunity.
