Mother's strawberry?

Hello, dear forum members,

I have recently come across such an idiom: mother's strawberry.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find its definition in any dictionary.

Would you please help me understand what it means and possible give contexts where it can be used?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I've never heard that. Where did you come across it? How do you know it's an idiom?

Many thanks, Clive.

This was a part of my test on translation from English to Ukrainian. The exercise stated that it was an idiom.

After your reply, I am even more confused. Perhaps the compilers of the test (who are not natives) are mistaken themselves.

It's not any sort of idiom that I've ever heard of.

Thank you, Khoff,

I will definitely base my argument against including this expression into the test on your and Clive's authoritative opinions.

All the best.

If there's someone in charge of the test that you can ask about it, I would be interested in knowing what they think it means!

Anonymousmother's strawberry
Also called "mother's mark".

I am not familiar with either of these terms. In my variety of English we say "birthmark".

My research on the internet led me to this definition:

a congenital mark upon the body; a birthmark; a nævus; "port-wine stain"

I am often amazed at what I consider to be strange questions on these forums. I am not, however, amazed when CJ comes up with a logical answer! Good job, CJ.

Hello everyone,

today I managed to find out that CalifJim's answer is just exactly what the compilers of the test meant - 'birthmark'.

Thank you very much for your help, guys. Loads of luck!
