Most wealthy...

Are these sentences correct:
1) He belongs to one of the most wealthy and politically influential families in this country.
2) He belongs to one of the most wealthy, politically influential families in this country.

I think they work and they mean the same. The absence of comma in '2' would change the meaning.

The family is one of the most wealthy and is politically influential.
Without the comma the sentence would mean that the family is one of the wealthiest among the most influential families in this country.

Would you say that is correct?

Gratefully,
Navi.
