most Irish of drinks

Hello.
What's the meaning of the words in bold? I can't figure out its structure:

Dublin has a strong pub culture and is famous for that most Irish of drinks, Guinness.

Top answer

It means that Guiness, the ale, is very strongly associated with Ireland. Guiness isn't Irish or very Irish, it's the most Irish drink.

Hi guys,

As an Irishman, I hasten to protest that Guinness is stout, not ale.

Best wishes, Clive

Hi,

Why do they use that instead of the? Can I put the? Yes, you can. 'That' just adds a little style, it's rather idiomatic. It suggests the speaker, and perhaps the reader, have a familiarity with the drinks that are popular in Ireland.
