Most difficult

Hello,

1.The most difficult situation was when he was silent. (change the degree)

A. No other situation was as difficult as when he was silent.

B. When he was silent was more difficult than any other situation.

Are 'A' and 'B' correct?

Thanks.

If you are asked to change the degree , shouldn't you be changing "most" to "more" rather than rewriting the sentence? In your answer, I find A more natural than B. I can image saying A, but not B.

I would venture to say that this is ungrammatical-- an adverbial occupying a nominal position.
