Most commonly used word in English: "i" in place of "I" (meaning "myself")

I sometimes see English writing using "i" in place of "I" (meaning myself). Why is this ? Any areas of preference ?

Top answer

"I" should always be capitalized. "i" (meaning "myself) is always incorrect. Maybe people who do a lot of text mesaging or internet chat get careless about this.
