I was referring to the fact that it is up to us to interpret things and to "open up" to the good or the bad. It's something along these lines. Should I employ another word? Thanks for your reply

I wouldn't say that "open up to" has much of a sense of "interpret things". To me, if you "open up to" something, it implies that the "something" is alre
