More than/over

In this sentence ' I've been working here for over 3 years', I know 'over' means 'more than'. But I feel that there could be some difference in usage between them, and if there is, then what would it be?

Top answer

Dear Bamtori, «More than» recites the fact. «Over» lays stress on the fact. Kind regards, Goldmund
