More than 1 Sentence in Parentheses Mid-Sentence

John was angry (his wife cheated on him. He didn't like it at all.) and wound up with a different woman.

Two periods w/in parens doesn't look quite right.

John was angry -- his wife cheated on him. He didn't like it at all -- and wound up with a different woman.

Is this right w/dashes?

Thanks.

Hi,

I agree. They don't look right.

But -- then again --, I would argue that, if you use parentheses and dashes (or at least if you have a habit of using them), you are usually signalling to the reader that you don't really intend your writing to be very careful anyway.

Best wishes, Clive
