more or the most

Which is from this 2 questions is right:
1 My sister has more children than any of her friends.
2 My sister has the most children than any of her friends.
Please explain why? I am very confused. I feel it is 'more' but I need explanation. Fore example in this sentence :
"I pay the most rent of anyone in my family ." The most is correct.
