An increasing number of people are moving to large metropolises in search of a better life, but city life can be extremely difficult. Although these challenges of living in urban areas are very serious, I think some feasible measures that governments could take to improve the quality of life.
One of the main problems that urban have to deal with is high living standard costs. Because individuals can not keep up with the rising costs of living and they have to face how to make ends meet, these people may have negative medical conditions like depression or anxiety disorder. Another drawback of living in a major city is pollution is caused by the number of toxic emissions released from power plants and industrial sites in recent years. Unfortunately, air pollutant contributes to putting inhabitants of cities at a higher risk of lung cancer and other respiratory illness. For example, Ho Chi Minh City always suffers from pollutant air during rush hour and as a result, this considers the fear of citizens in this city.
There are several approaches that the government can implement to tackle the issues mentioned above. First, it is necessary to invest money in building affordable houses so that citizens can reduce the pressure on living costs in the city. And they should be received well high paid which are enough to cover rising living expenses. Second, in order to improve the quality of air in major metropolises, stricter regulations should be imposed to limit toxic gas emissions, encourage the use of environmentally friendly energy sources and public transportations instead of using private cars. In particular, Stockholm in Sweden is known as the Green Capital of Europe because the president’s efforts to cut down on waste and implement green public transport has helped Swedish cities reduce air pollution effectively.
In conclusion, people tend to live in big cities although there are several difficulties which they have to face. Personally, the government should address these challenges by methods such as investing money in building cheap houses and encouraging citizens to use friendly energy.
