Vocabulary

more and more beautiful vs. ever more beautiful

Hello dear people,

is there a difference in meaning/style/use with these phrases?

Are they both correct?

She is getting ever more beautiful

Thank you!

Anonymous is there a difference in meaning/style/use with these phrases? I see none really, though the second seems more carefully crafted.

Although neither are incorrect, I feel the word "becoming" is preferable to the word "getting"..

She is getting more and more beautiful Emotion: wink

She is getting ever more beautiful… is that grammatically correct? Sounds odd too.

So is "ever more" only typical of written language/fiction? Or could you imagine someone saying it in an everyday conversation?

One might say it, but it is more literary than 'more and more'. As I said, it is more carefully crafted, which is characteristic of the written language and prepared speeches.
