More about "a chip off the old block"

Hi,

I understand this idiom is only applicable to males?

What expression/idiom would you use talking about a young lady closely resembling her mother?

Cheers,

As I said in your other post, it can be used for both males and females. As a cultural note, the terms women and men are much more common today than ladies and gentlemen. Many feminists would object to the phrase ' a young lady' , on the grounds that they see it as patronizing.
