Mop the table?

I understand a mop is the stick we use to clean or wash the floor and most of the time I heard people say 'mop the floor'. But somehow sometimes I heard people(non native speaker) say 'mop the table'. Is it correct to say 'mop' the table?

I would not personally say "mop the table". I would say it another way, such as "wipe the table" or "wipe down the table". I might say "mop up something" (e.g. a spillage) that was on a table.
