Months after his being diagnosed of cancer ...

Hi

Is the red part natural English?

I met him months after his being diagnosed of cancer. He seemed too quiet.

Thanks,

Tom

AS always, we Americans can say things in several ways. Ugh. Lol

Most Americans would more naturally say: I met him months after he was diagnosed with cancer.

These would also be correct but a bit more proper: I met him months after he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Or

I met him months after his having been diagnosed with cancer.
