Money, it or them?

Hi, could you please help me checking this sentence?
Should I say

a) He took the money and gave it to the beggar

b) He took the money and gave them to the beggar

money is singular right? So I guess I should use the first one but I'm not so sure.

Thanks a lot

Hi Someotherbody Welcome to English Forums. You are right. Use 'it' because 'money' is an uncountable noun.
