Wouldn't it be correct if we said, "You can travel around that country in less than thousand dollars."?

Thank you.

It would be correct if you were talking about time?

You can travel around that country in less than two weeks.

You can travel around that country on / for less than a thousand dollars.

'On' is a bit more idiomatic. 'For' is more straightforward.

Would it be wrong if we write "with"?

No.

But it sounds a bit like you had it with you.
eg You can travel around that country with a camera.

I didn't know "on" works as well (yes, I thought "for" was the right one).

If it were this, what would be the right preposition?

You can travel around that country ( X ) paying less than a thousand dollars.

It's not a natural thing to say.

"For" is probably the best choice, and as Clive has pointed out, the most straightforward.

"On" does work, but only because when dealing with money it correlates with expressions such as "on a budget." For this reason, I would agree with Clive that it is a little bit idiomatic, but it is certainly acceptable and understood.

I see.

Thanks, Clive and KC!
