Are these correct?

1. I think it would be a waste of money if I had bought it. (Can you decribing wasting money in present imgainary as well?)

2. I think it would have been a waste of money if I had bought it. (At the time I bought it?)

The first sentence should read: I thin

The second sentence implies that the opportunity to buy has passed and you are reflecting on the situation
1. I think it would be a waste of money if I had bought it. (I can't describe 'wasting money' as now?)

Like this:

2. I think it would be a waste of money right now if I had bought it.

For your revised #2, you would be more likely to say either:

1. I would now be thinking it was a waste of money, if I'd bought it.

or:

2. I would now think it had been a waste of money, if I'd bought it.
