for a moment = for a very brief period of time
in a moment = shortly (e.g. I'll come out in a moment)

in a moment = within a very short space of time e.g. I'm busy now but I'll be with you in a moment.

for a moment = for a very short duration e.g. When I saw you eat that chocolate bar, for a moment, I thought that you liked chocolate but then I saw that you were pretending.
