Mom to vs mom of

I am a mom to 3 children.

I am a mom of 3 children.

Are they both correct? I know 'mom of' is way more common, but I have also come across 'mom to' so I was wondering if they are both equally correct.

Thanks.

Use "of" if you gave birth to these children.

Use "to" if they are not your own children, but you acted as a mother to them.
