Mom and dad/ Parents?

Hi

In a situation where a guy is trying to rent an apartment on the first floor, the house owner asks -

Will your mom and dad be able to climb the stairs?

Is this construction correct? Or should "mom and dad" be replaced by "parents"?

Also, should it be "climb stairs" or "climb the stairs"?

Should we replace the word "stairs" by "staircase"??

Please help.

Thank you
