Mold/the mold

a. We heated up the rooms and mold is not growing here any longer.
b. We heated up the rooms and THE mold is not growing here any longer.

c. We heated up the rooms and mold stopped growing here.
d. We heated up the rooms and THE mold stopped growing here.

Can we tell if NEW MOLD does not appear on the walls (maybe the old mold had been cleaned) or if the mold that was already there does not grow?

Many Thanks.
Azz.

The versions without 'the' suggest this.
azzor if the mold that was already there does not grow?
The versions with 'the' say this.

As an ex-pat Briton, I've always spelled the word as mould.

The is a definite article, that it is only used when talking about something specific. If you are talking about a specific formation of mold, such as on one part of the wall, then use the. If you are talking generally then simply use mold.

Instead of saying new mold, you can say that the mold doesn't grow anymore, is not there any more, etc.

Perfect Strangercan we say new mould?
Why not? I would take that as mold that wasn't there at first, like a new infestation of mold as opposed to a regrowth of the mold that was originally there.
